About Us
Continuing a century-old tradition of journalism by professionals
The Unpopular Review was an American political journal established by Henry Holt just prior to World War I with its first edition in January 1914, and which ran for a few brilliant years before ceasing in 1920.
It was a journal like no other, in which notable authors, who were often senior politicians, businesspeople, writers and public officials, published unpopular opinions, initially many being anonymous.
Here they were free to express what they thought. Something a free press does not guarantee, in that we are all beholden to social pressure and the risk of being fired.
Perfect for today's fraught times in which, though we all crave fame, safety comes first.
Which is why a group of experienced journalists is re-launching the publication.
